Tony's Shoe Repair used to be where today we have the laundromat.

About This Site

The West 75th Street Block Association launched its website at a general meeting on February 28. We hope you will find the site useful, informative, and entertaining. Please bear in mind that the site is a work in progress — it will be updated frequently as we continue to develop it and work to keep it up to the minute with news from the Association leadership and from you.

The site is organized into eight main sections, Home, About Us, Calendar, News, Resources, Contact Us, Membership/Support, and Site Map, with a link to each, in the top menu bar.

In most of these sections, there will be a side menu bar linking you to the topics it includes, e.g., the Home section includes our Mission Statement, Goals for 2008, the President's Page, and this page describing the entire site. The Site Map lays out the entire site, with links to all of its elements, on a single page.

Most pages carry a timestamp at the bottom indicating when they were last updated.

You can expect frequent updates to the Calendar, News, and Resources sections. We count on your contributions to the News pages, and your suggestions for Resources, which has links for general interest, entertainment, environment & preservation, libraries, news publications, seniors; and specialized pages for government, NYC get-aways and more.

Your contributions are important to the About Us section! Send photos of your pets for the Pet Corner (pets@w75ba.org with PETS in the subject line), and your street stories for the Diary page (diary@w75ba.org with DIARY in the subject line). And look for additions to the About Us section such as block trivia; additional historical information; member kudos; and profiles of residents past and present.

Under Membership/Support there are plans for a Discussion Forum and a  Members Only sections.

Frequent updates will keep the site current with —

notices of W75BA activities (dates and locations of meetings, social events, and beautification programs, for example);

useful links to government sites and representatives, places of interest for excursions, NYC lore, and general information;

photos recording life on W75 Street — people, the streetscape, pets (members are invited to submit pictures of their furred, feathered, and scaled companions for our Pet Corner);

news items and anecdotes about life on our street;

and more.

This is your site, neighbors, and we count on your contributions to keep it lively and interesting, so write to us at info@w75ba.org. Send us your comments, suggestions, your news, your memorable tales of life on West 75th Street, and your photos. (If you send a photo, be sure to tell us where and when it was taken.)

We hope you will visit us often.
