March 12: Manhattan Day School

Residents of 33 Riverside Drive have written to Manhattan Day School in regard to issues such as noise, traffic, garbage, etc. If you are a resident on the block and have complaints/concerns, now is the time to share them with us as we will be speaking to the school in the near future.

March 12: Attempted Break-In

Earlier this month, an attempted break-in was reported by a resident of 144 West 75th Street. Residents felt that the building owner could do more to make the building more secure. No one was hurt or robbed, and the perpetrator walked away when confronted. We are reaching out to the Veltri family, owners of the building, to have residents' concerns addressed. We ask you all to stay vigilant.

Sunday, Sept 27: Elephant Park Playground Fair

Hello Neighbors and Friends,

For those of you that were not able to participate in BLOCK BLAST, this is a great opportunity to help out the community! TheElephant Playground Fair is next Sunday, and volunteers are needed!!
If you have not attended in the past, it is a very fun event with plenty of entertainment for kids of all ages, but particularly geared toward the younger set.  Please see the attached flyer for more information.

All of the proceeds go toward the renovation of the playground, which should happen this year.  This is an all-volunteer event, and we need a lot of help to make it a success.  If you know anybody that uses the playground and can spare two hours, grab a friend and help us sell tickets and T-shirts, monitor bouncy rides, crafts, and games, or prepare food.

If you can help out email Scot Steinberg (W75BA Leadership Team) scotso67@yahoo.com.

Volunteers needed for shifts from 11 to 1, 1 to 3, or the full four hours.  It’s even more fun if you bring a friend!

I know some of you are out of town for the weekend, but if you can encourage your friends who are around to help us out, that would be great.

I’ll see you there! Bring the kids!

September 14: Safety Alert: Potential Danger

This was submitted by a vigilant resident and we thought everyone should be aware of it!

On Monday, Sept 7th, a man was seen at multiple residences on 75th street between CPW and Amsterdam posing as a Chinese restaurant delivery man.  At one residence at least, he said that he was with UPS in order to gain entry, but then pretended to be a delivery man who had accidentally entered the wrong building.  He appeared to have a list with notes that he was making of buildings on the block.

The restaurant he said he was working for was contacted and they advised that they had no deliveries near our block on that day.  The police were contacted, but they never found him in order to determine why he was on the block for so many hours on Monday afternoon making notes about buildings and entering them under false pretenses.  He was an Asian man in his 40s in a light blue polo shirt and spoke English with a heavy accent.

Please be on the lookout for anyone who matches this description who tries to enter your building under false pretenses.  Please call 911 and report any suspicious activity to the police.
