W75BA schedules regular beautification days when residents plant and restore tree beds, window boxes along the street.

Our Goals for 2010

We have already made a start on the goals set by the Leadership Committee in January, scheduling meetings, block parties, and beautification activities (see Calendar). We invite you to participate in the achievement of all Association goals for the year—

Foster neighborliness and safety

Maintain our informative Web site.

Host an annual Block Party in September.

Hold bi-monthly meetings with pertinent/interesting topics.

Distribute the newsletter to residents from RSD to CPW, and to building owners and coop presidents, schools, merchants on the block.

Produce photo cards for sale (photos taken by members).

Spotlight local merchants in newsletter and on Web site.

Produce shopping guide of local merchants from 72nd to 79th Streets.

Post event flyers Park to Park, RSD to CPW.

Recruit block leaders to help promote the organization.

Schedule Block Beautification Days

With Transportation Alternatives, work to create curb extensions at selected intersections.

Work with neighborhood groups to produce a brochure promoting our local merchants.

Work with building owners, co-op boards, community groups, elected officials, and city agencies to address issues that affect our community affect our community

Install five new tree guards.

Increase the reach of our Newsletter and event flyers.

Extend the reach of our e-mail list to include the above groups.

Support our neighborhood independent merchants by purchasing locally.

Offer advertising on our website in exchange for W75BA member discounts. Those stores offering a discount will be listed in the Newsletter as well.

Ask local merchants to donate door prizes for our bi-monthly meetings in return for signage at the meetings.

Have plaques made for stores that help to fund the Block Beautification program.

Commit to “green living” by making choices that promote energy conservation.

Encourage residents and local businesses to change their bulbs to Compact Flourescent Bulbs (CFB).

Reduce the number of plastic bags used by our residents.

Persuade local merchants to reduce their use of plastic bags and Styrofoam.
